Altura, Scotland’s only Sardinian restaurant, celebrates its first anniversary one month from today (8th October) with a special evening of entertainment provided by ‘Stars in your Eyes’ winner Pat Cairns singing a medley of Neil Diamond and Kenny Rogers songs.
Established by chef Mario Milano together with long time business partner, Annemarie Ferguson, Altura (Italian for ‘height’ – a reference to its first floor location on Skirving Street in Shawlands) specialises in seafood and the culinary delights of Sardinia.
Said Mario, “I can’t believe it’s been a year since we opened Altura, but our growing reputation amongst foodies with a passion for our freshly prepared Italian cuisine with a Sardinian twist has helped ensure our popularity.
“Sardinian cooking is famed for its seafood dishes and we offer fresh seafood daily specials, which are always the first choice for regulars. And with Pat Cairns serving up some light entertainment, it’s all set to be a special evening!”
Altura’s pre-theatre menu, starting from £11.95 for three courses, is also available for lunch at only £7.95 for two courses.
Popular starters in the set menu include zuppeta di cozze (mussels in a garlic, chilli and white wine sauce with a hint of tomato) and insalata di gamberetti in salsa rosa (prawn cocktail) with mains including: trancio di salmone al vino bianco (supreme of fresh salmon in a white wine sauce); scaloppine di vitello al limone (escapoles of veal in a lemon sauce) and filetto di manzo alla diana (fillet of Scottish beef with diane sauce).
