Maclay Inns, one of Scotland’s leading operators of pubs and inns, has gone WEST with the introduction of Helles lager in three of its most popular outlets in Glasgow’s west end: The Three Judges, Lansdowne Bar and Kitchen and The Inn, Bearsden.
WEST, the first UK brewery to produce all of its beers in accordance with the Reinheitsgebot, known as the German Purity Law, is based at the iconic Templeton Building at Glasgow Green and Helles is its signature Munich-style lager beer.
German brewery owner Petra Wetzel said, “I’m absolutely delighted that Maclay Inns has chosen to put Helles into three of its bars and am confident that, once its customers discover the clean, crisp taste of Helles, Maclay will go on to introduce Helles into more of its outlets throughout Scotland.”
Steve Mallon, managing director of Maclay Inns said, “Speciality beers have always been a big part of what we do, especially in The Three Judges so when a new Glasgow beer came on the scene with the quality and authenticity of Helles from WEST, we were keen to introduce it in our west end bars. It is developing a strong following already so we expect it to be received well by our customers.”
WEST produces a full range of beers, from cool, crisp lagers, through to clean-tasting wheat beers and a full range of unique and seasonal styles. Helles is brewed with carefully selected imported ingredients to create a crisp and clean beer with satisfying malt sweetness, complemented by delicate hop bitterness (ABV 4.9%).
Maclay Inns is a family owned multiple pub and inn owner and operator based in Central Scotland. It runs a large range of bars and inns, from community pubs to student pubs from inns and hotels to pubs serving great food in areas such as Dundee, Oban, Balloch, Edinburgh, St Andrews and Glasgow.
