A NURSE at a Lothian hospital has been shortlisted for a national award that
recognises the hard work being carried out in wound care.
Jeanette Timmins, a Tissue Viability Nurse at both the Royal Victoria (RVH) and
Liberton Hospitals, is now in line for the Wounds System Award at a ceremony to be
held in London, by Wounds UK, on June 8th.
Jeanette worked on improving standards in wound assessment and management by
researching and devising detailed measures to enhance the care given to patients.
A trial period was proposed for a new wound assessment chart, which was aimed at
strengthening staff awareness of wound management procedures, leading to an
increasingly efficient use of dressings – during the four-month trial, expenditure
on wound management products reduced by
