Young Scots Events Enterprise Wows Brittany

Shotts born Dr Maggie Dewar, a BA graduate in traditional Scottish music from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (RSAMD), is wowing one and all at the annual prestigious Interceltique Festival, at Lorient in North-West France which is just coming to a close.

Helped by partner and former Paris ‘Auld Alliance’ Scots pub owner Steve Graham, she has launched a new company “Celtique Fringe Events”, and their efforts highlight the strong parallels that exist between Scotland and Brittany, as they re-create the buzz of a genuine Scottish Ceilidh.

Dr Fiona Watson, Scottish historian and presenter of “Scotland’s Story” says on the Celtique Fringe Events website: “Maggie is well-known on the Scottish folk scene for the poignancy of her singing and the lustiness of her pipe playing. She is a wonderful tradition bearer, deeply committed to learning and passing on ballads and tunes from the past in a way that very much
resonates with the present.”

Celtique Fringe Events is now confident of attracting follow-up festivals and eventing work throughout Continental Europe in the months to come following their success in Brittany.
