The barbecue summer might have failed to materialise, but the Hottest Night of the Year is forecast for this Thursday 1st October in Glasgow when 500 guests take part in the annual celebration of all that’s best in the worlds of showbiz, sport, politics and business by shrugging off the recession to raise funds for charity.
Conceived and hosted by Curry King Charan Gill MBE, this year, the eleventh, the glittering event looks to be as star-studded as ever raising money for The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice and Help the Aged India – despite the recession.
This year’s theme is Slumdog Millionaire and in store for guests are an enticing combination of traditional Indian fare and sizzling entertainment combining to make this a night they will never forget.
Hottest Night host Charan Gill said, “The idea behind the very first Hottest Night was to bring together all the real movers and shakers of Scotland to raise fantastic amounts of money for a variety of worthy causes. And each year, without fail, we have shown that there is no limit to the generosity of the Scottish people – recession or not.
“If there’s such a thing as ‘compassion fatigue’ then it’s clear that it can’t stand the heat of generosity generated at the Hottest Night of the Year!”
Amongst the numerous celebrities that have attended the Hottest Night over the years are: Jack McConnell (when First Minister); television presenter Kirsty Wark; Scotland’s richest man, entrepreneur and philanthropist Tom Hunter, Lord of the Rings Hobbit Billy Boyd and too many stars of stage and screen and sport to mention.
The Hottest Night has raised an incredible £1 million over the last decade for a range of charities. This year’s Hottest Night of the Year will once again be held in the Grand Ballroom at the Hilton Glasgow.
