Epsom-based trainer Jim Boyle is sending Caprio to Hamilton Park this Thursday afternoon – hot on the heels of a visit to his yard by the Hamilton Park executive.
Caprio is well fancied to succeed in the second of seven races at the Lanarkshire track’s Chamber of Commerce Day tomorrow afternoon and the journey north captures interest given Epsom will be the focus of racing attention just two days later.
Hamilton Park chief executive Vivien Kyles and Clerk of the Course Hazel Peplinski visited both Epsom and Sandown a fortnight ago and are delighted to see the trip paying dividends already.
Hazel added: “We went on a whistle-stop tour south of the border recently, taking in London, Epsom and Sandown, with Jim’s yards one of a number which we visited.
“It shows that Hamilton Park is very much being proactive in terms of scouting for runners and support for the rest of the summer and we hope to see more trainers taking Jim’s lead.”
Another source of praise for Hamilton Park came from racing fan fundraiser John Sandys, who undertook a challenge to walk all eight UK courses with recognised Derby trials – within a 24-hour period.
John and his team visited Hamilton Park early on Wednesday morning and had this to say: “It was beautiful this morning, a really lovely walk and Hamilton Park, as with every other racecourse, couldn’t do enough to help. The racecourse really is in fantastic nick.
“Hamilton Park is the third racecourse on our journey and it really opens your eyes to the diversity of racing venues in the UK. We’ve gone from the expansiveness of Newmarket through the enclosed “postage stamp” of Chester to the beautiful location of Hamilton Park already. They all have their own idiosyncrasies which make UK racing what it is.”
Anyone wishing to donate to John’s cause (in aid of Greatwood Home, the Injured Jockeys Fund and Starlight Children's Foundation) should visit:
