It has recently been calculated that broadband connected customers could take an online energy plan when paying their bills which would cost averagely £616, while those without Internet access had to pay roughly a standard of £756 per year for heating and hot water.
The uSwitch study showed that tech-savvy customers who paid their bills online spent just £1,010 whereas it cost £1,239 a year for those who didn’t.
This meant that paying bills online saved families up to £229 a year on their total bills, and £140 on the earlier-mentioned hot water and heating fees.
Energy Expert at uSwitch, Tom Lyon, commented on the findings:
“The concern is that many will react by cutting down on heating and hot water which will severely impact their quality of life whereas they could cut the cost of these essentials by £140 a year by moving online.”
However bearing in mind, that there is an additional cost for broadband services, Simplifydigital.com has selected top triple play (broadband, home phone and digital TV) packages, which will save families a further £408 per year, as a contrast to households who took every service from a different provider.
As Charlie Ponsonby, CEO of Simplifydigital notes:
“The top 20% of customers whom we help save, achieve savings of over £400 pa by bundling their TV, broadband and phone services, and the top 10% save a staggering £550 per year.”
“January is our busiest month of the year – people want to make big savings but simply don’t have the time to search the newspapers and internet for the best deals – instead they can come to
“Simplifydigital and let us do the hard work for them – and what’s more our service is free.”
Sky, Virgin Media, and BT all offer “triple play” packages starting from as little as £30 per month for all three services including line rental.
