Staff and customers at the Aberdeenshire-based premier softplay centre for children, Hoodles Playbarn, recently had the perfect excuse to eat cake as they took part in the Macmillan world’s biggest coffee morning to raise £385 aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
The charity, which hosts an annual ‘World’s biggest coffee morning’ invites fundraisers to host a coffee morning where all donations are made to people affected by cancer – both those living with cancer, as well as their families and carers.
Hoodles Playbarn hosted a fun-filled 2hrs, where staff and customers took part in a raffle, guessed the weight of the cake, guessed the birthday of a special Bertie Bassett garden decoration and even took part in a treasure hunt. With lots of prizes, cakes, jams, chutneys, pies and homebakes also on sale, a great morning was had by all.
Anna Stephen, Owner of Hoodles Playbarn comments, “We have taken part in the world’s biggest coffee morning for the past three years to great success. This year was no different and we achieved an excellent turn out, with customers keen to take part in our activities and take some sweet treats and other homemade goodies away with them.
“I think everyone has someone close to them who has been affected in some way by cancer. The work which Macmillan carries out is essential in supporting families, carers and those with cancer help find the determination and courage to fight the disease. Our own coffee morning has helped to contribute towards a national total of over £4,500,000 so far – we’d like to thank everyone who came along for their kind donations towards such a worthy cause.”
