Acting on behalf of NHS Grampian, Shepherd Chartered Surveyors has put a closing date of noon on Thursday 21 July on the sale of the historic Category B-listed former hospital in Maud, a vibrant village around 30 miles from Aberdeen.
Offers are invited for the hospital’s outstanding buildings and grounds which are located within a 2.32-acre site. The original two-storey hospital building dates back to 1869 and has been used for healthcare purposes until fairly recently. As well as the main granite building, this imposing site offers a further terraced building to the rear.
Murray Bain, commercial surveyor at Shepherd in Aberdeen, said, “There is clearly considerable scope to redevelop this unique site. The original Maud Hospital building is outstanding and an imaginative developer who is sympathetic to its history and surroundings has the potential to do something really quite special here. It really is an exciting project.”
Maud, a busy agricultural service centre with a rich rural history, is less than 15 miles from both Peterhead and Turriff, and boasts excellent local amenities including primary school, local shops and a hotel. Its once-famous livestock auction mart has been redeveloped as the Old Mart Community Resource Centre and is run by the local village trust, a charity set up in 2002 to develop the site on behalf of the community.
