Scotland’s sole representative at the prestigious European Hotel Design Awards, has walked away with a Highly Commended certificate …the only such award to be handed out at the glittering ceremony which took place recently at the Park Plaza in London .
Hotel Indigo Glasgow, the 4 star plus hotel in the city centre was the only Scottish venue to make the shortlist at these prestigious architectural awards, at which they were a finalist in the ‘Conversion of a Non Hotel Building for Hotel Use’ category. East Kilbride based Ica Architects were the architectural team responsible for the stunning transformation of the Waterloo St building from which, in the 19th century, the Glasgow’s first Power Station was run.
General Manager, Denis MacCann notes; ‘Being the first hotel of its kind to open outside of London, we believe that we are playing our part in establishing the high quality for which the Indigo brand stands and it is fantastic to have been recognised at the European Design awards.
The category winner was Madrid’s NH Palacio de Tepa designed by Carlos Loren and Jose Marca Gomez Santander whilst the other finalists were Ballyfin Hotel in Ireland, Coworth Park, Berkshire and Donnafugata Golf Resort and Spa, Sicily.
