Bruichladdich Distillery are now adding Quick Response (QR) codes to Bruichladdich tins to help consumers find out more about their Islay Scotch whisky.
QR codes are being printed on to the base Bruichladdich tins on bottlings despatched from the Islay distillery from March 2012.
The first Bruichladdich bottling to carry a QR code is Octomore Comus, the world's most heavily peated whisky, released this week.
The code can be scanned by the camera of a smartphone which then links to the new Bruichladdich website and to the bottling in question.
It enables the reader to access more detailed information about the bottling, how it was made, tasting notes, images and video, and to explore the range further.
QR codes can be read by a standard QR scanner app download to a smart phone.
