Over the next few weeks, is to publish, each weekday, extracts from the memoirs of Scottish war correspondent, Paul Harris. ‘More Thrills than Skills: A Half-life in Journalism’, is being scheduled for publication next year.

Monday was a Poya Day holiday and I decided to go to the Foreign Ministry first thing the following morning with the letter for hand delivery. I was asked me not to say anything in public again, just to write. I was also told my conduct could be construed as being prejudicial to national security.

At first, I thought it simply pomposity. Later, I would realise that the seeds were already sown.
