As the end of August nears, at last: a contender for the Headline of the Month competition (and yes, the idea is to create an online poll to determine the winners of the June and July competitions – all the entries are at-the-ready to be displayed once a new-look AMS is launched).
The competition is in association with Whyte & Mackay.
So, thanks to East Renfrewshire Council's senior media officer, George Barbour, for nominating this headline in the Evening Times newspaper: Don't Fall for Fellers at the Door, accompanying a tale (here) about conmen turning up at people's doors offering to cut back or cut down trees.
Up for grabs each month are bottles of Whyte & Mackay Special whisky – for both the author of the headline and the person who has nominated it, with the monthly winners entered in a Headline of the Year competition where two bottles, each worth £150, of Whyte & Mackay 30 year-old are the prizes.
It's not known who penned the Evening Times' headline.
Eligible are headlines in Scottish newspapers (national and local), plus Scottish magazines and online.
