The Scottish political press corps were much taken with the fine grub on offer at the breakfast launch of the SNP election manifesto on Thursday at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow.
Indeed, some of the gentlemen hacks (there were no lady hacks in attendance) made mention of it in their copy which is certainly a new slant on product placement. For example, Angus Macleod, Scottish political editor of The Times, described the fare as “different class”.
The Sunday Post's political editor, Campbell Gunn, reveals more today: “Unlike the other parties, the Nats provided platters piled high with bacon, sausage, and even potato scone rolls, along with croissants, fresh, tea and coffee.”
But, alas, Gunn spills the beans on some of his peers, by observing: “The gluttony of some of my colleagues had to be seen to be believed.”
