MAKING money as a magazine publisher is the subject of one of the sessions being staged at a festival in Edinburgh dedicated to the magazines sector.
The inaugural Edinburgh International Magazine Festival – taking place later this month – sees, among others, the editor of The Big Issue, Paul McNamee, consider ‘the serious business of making money’.
Taking place on Monday, the 27th of this month, the session is billed as follows: “From paid content to emerging digital advertising models, publishers are faced with an expanding array of opportunities for generating new revenues. This panel explores how, in a rapidly-changing and increasingly multi-platform market, companies are making the most of these opportunities while safeguarding existing revenue sources and monitoring new threats.”
Along with McNamee, the panel also comprises Barry McIlheney, chief executive of the Professional Publishers Association; Mark Millar, head of legal at Future plc; and Paul Keers, former editorial director at Axon Publishing.
